Father's Day Weekend

So, this year we made the drive to Macon, GA to spend Father's Day with Joey's parents, Patti & Gary. I don't always enjoy the heat down there, but I do enjoy Patti's fabulous cooking. I always offer to help, but there's not a thing in my repertoire that holds a candle to any of her cooking, especially her brisket--it's the best I've ever had anywhere!

So we enjoyed a much-needed relaxing weekend of catching up and basically enjoying Savannah and her antics. She is so much fun! I'd write more, but there's not a whole lot more to write...we just chilled, which was the best part about it all. Thanks Patti & Gary for always being such big ministers in our lives when we come down there=)

While you all are thinking about it...say a little prayer for Joey. He has his first accounting mid-term tonight. He's been studying hard, but he's still nervous. I know he will do great!

(Note to self: I can no longer take pictures sitting down and slightly slouching--too much of a resemblance to the Micheline Tire Guy at this point in the pregnancy.)

Be Careful What You Say!

Yeah, so...this morning I sit down across from Savannah for breakfast, and I forget why, but I uttered the phrase, "Dang it!" for some reason in frustration....which she then continued to repeat VERBATIM about three times in a row. Oops! Didn't know she was getting that good. Note to self and other distinguished family members: Be careful what you say! Even once! She really will repeat it!!
Another case in point--Joey had her out and about this morning since I had a doctor's appointment and a ladies luncheon to attend. Frequently these days, Savannah is pointing at anything and everything, asking "Dhis? Dhis? Dhis?" and will repeat her question until you tell her what "This" is that she is pointing at. Today, Joey said she got out of the car and bent over to touch the ground. "Dhis?" To which his reply was, "Ground." She looked confused, so he clarified that it was, "Asphalt." To which Savannah quickly replies, "OK," and then continues to repeat the word daddy just said during their entire trip to the grocery store....only....she only repeats the first syllable of any word she hears=) Hahahahahahaha! So you do the math and figure out what explicative she was repeating over and over again throughout the grocery store, all the while pointing to the ground=)

What Have We Been Up To? Well....

I know, it's been a while since I've written, and so much has been going on, but to be honest, this pregnancy is kicking me in the rear, and quite frankly I just don't have the time to sit and write the way I'd like, so you'll just have to bear with the long-catch-you-up-on-things posts I can do when I can.

For starters, the month of May was spent pretty much trying to get our yard in tip top shape. This is a favorite pastime for both Joey and me, so we were very pleased when our home owner's association--who hasn't had kind words for us in the past of over other issues--finally showed us some love...

Yard of the Month!!! Yay! It feels so good to have everything looking great since I found out the other day that even ten minutes of weeding sends me into a swelling frenzy these days. No more yard work until the fall=( So sad...but that just means more time for my quilting project!

As for the rest of our time, well mostly it's been getting Savannah's new room ready, so we can get Weston's room ready. Here's the finished project so far...

It will look way more amazing when Mrs. Boyd finishes pillows, window treatments, etc. but you get the idea. All of these new things you see kept me busy running to and from IKEA for a few weeks. I love that place, but it really can drive you crazy! On one of our trips, Savannah had much fun climbing on the flatbed carts. The world is her playground these days!....

(She's been working really hard lately on her "Say Cheese" smile=)
As you can see and imagine, Savannah keeps me pretty busy as well. She is a bundle of adorable energy, always at my feet...literally...

(This was taken underneath our glass desk that I am currently sitting at and typing...sigh...it's always all about her...wonder where she got that from? =) Anyways...
...
I try my best to balance getting projects completed around the house, keeping my home clean and in order, and finding ways to entertain Little Miss. This past Friday we took her first trip to the zoo. She's still not quite to the age where she can be truly mesmerized by all the exotic animals, but she did think she was big stuff being able to stand on the ropes and up on the glass ledges at the exhibits. Her favorites were definitely all the baby gorillas (they had at least 5 or 6!) where she ran around in front of the glass squealing, "Baby! Baby!" at the top of her lungs. Thankfully, only a few people were present. Oddly enough, her other favorite was the estuary where you walk in and are surrounded by none other than hundreds of pet-store quality parakeets. Nothing else exotic, just hundreds of parakeets. I couldn't stop her from running around trying to climb up and touch every bird she saw, all the while screaming, "Bird! Bird!" at the top of her lungs. Sigh=) A really big pet store might be our next outing=)

So, that's where I've been, and that's what I've been doing. Now that I'm officially off yard work duty, you can expect more stories to come of vacation on the beach, Savannah and Weston's rooms completed, and hopefully, fingers crossed, a beautiful quilt for Savannah's new bed=)

Great Date Experiment #2 ???

Yeah, so we set out this evening to test drive the Great Date Experiment #2 for our night out together this week, but no sooner did I get in the car than my mouth began to water, and.....well, you how you just know whatever is in your stomach is about to come up? Yeah, that's how I was feeling on our drive to dinner.
...
So I'm sitting there in the car, trying hard to at least make it to the restaurant, but I realize the more saliva I try to keep down, the more that just isn't going to happen. "Joey, you're gonna have to pull over."
...
Being the diligent husband he is, he whips the car into the next side street, and I open the passenger door, only to hear, "Uh, honey, those people are sitting on their back porch watching you." Complete embarrassment. I pull back into the car, and he whips it around another corner into an abandoned, not-yet-developed neighborhood. Again, opening the side door, the yacking commences.
...
Now, I could go into great details, and even thought about posting a picture, but I figured I would lose a lot of readers after that, so let's just say--It hurt, it was the most unpleasant experience I've EVER had throwing up (all pregnancies included), and I was choking on myself. The event ended in tears out of pain and just plain, old utter embarrassment. I have NEVER puked on the side of the road before. Chalk another first up to pregnancy #2.
...
As the end of my event was nearing, Joey began to search frantically for something to give me to wipe my mouth. Joey thinks, 'Dang it! I don't have anything...well, there is that old Chick-fil-A tie over there. I've never liked that tie anyway.' "Here honey, use this and toss it." And so I did. Awe, to be the someone that walks up on that pleasantry on the side of the road, only to find a Chick-fil-A tie wadded up nearby. The story they will imagine....
...
Needless to say, I was fine after that. I knew I would be. Even went straight to dinner at the Marietta Pizza Co. downing half a salad, a much needed fountain Coke, and a slice of veggie pizza the size of a baseball pendant. Despite the small, "something-squishy" I found between my toes, the rest of the evening was fun, and we even laughed about the whole experience.
...
Also needless to mention, Great Date #2 was a bust for the evening, and we must reschedule a do-over because kissing at every red light was just NOT going to happen=)
